Saeko Ehara is a Tokyo-based digital artist whose practice explores memory, emotion, and new ways of relating to the world through AI, generative art, and 3D scanning. Her work is rooted in her lifelong fascination with “kirakira”—a Japanese onomatopoeic expression for something sparkling or shimmering—and flowers. For Ehara, “kirakira” refers not to physical light itself, but to those fleeting moments when something quietly stirs the heart and the world suddenly appears slightly different from how it usually does. Flowers, too, serve as symbols of memory, emotion, and sensations that exist between reality and imagination. By reconstructing reality and memory through digital technologies, Ehara makes visible what is lost and what emerges anew in the process of transformation. Her work seeks to create new moments of “kirakira” and invite viewers to encounter the world around them anew in their everyday lives. Her recent activities include the ASTROPOETICON project (2026), the Collectible Scape residency program in Switzerland (2025), A Taste of Good For Tomorrow at the Swiss Pavilion, EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI (2025), Artificial Dreams II in France (2025), Vivid Sydney in Australia (2024), ACTIONS in AMBIENT KYOTO in Japan (2023), and Bright Moments Tokyo (2023). Her work has been exhibited in 23 countries.
